Homewood Boarding Kennels: Terms and Conditions
Homewood Pet Boarding treats all pets with the utmost care and respect, and are committed to their health, welfare and well-being. All care and attention is undertaken during boarding or in transit, but responsibility for pets can only be accepted at the owner’s own risk.
All pets must be on leads or in cages during the transition from the car park to the Kennel & Cattery.
Dogs are required to wear a collar during their stay. If you do not have a suitable collar one will be provided for you and the cost will be added to your bill. Any bedding, coats etc must be clearly named.
All dogs must be registered with their local council. Boarding your pet at Homewood means you agree that your dog is currently registered in accordance with the law.
We have a communal cat play area. We do recommend having your cat microchipped, so in the unlikely event you believe we have mixed up your pet with another animal, the identity of any pet can be confirmed without any doubt.
For all boarding bookings we must be provided with an emergency contact person who is available to collect and care for your pet for the remainder of the stay in case of an emergency.
Risk
All information concerning special needs or behaviour of your pet and special diets, allergies or medications that may pose a risk to your pet, other animals or staff, must be disclosed prior to each stay.
If your pet causes injury to another animal, person or property you may be responsible for all related expenses.
You MUST tell us about any destructive or escape behaviours your dog may have. For example, destruction of beds, likely to eat toys/blankets, swallowing stones, jumping or scaling fences, digging. These behaviours place your pet at an increased risk of coming to harm, especially if staff are not informed.
If you do not tell us about your dog’s destructive behaviour, and your dog destroys our kennels, fences, beds or other items or equipment, we may charge you for damage caused.
You should advise us if your dog has a panic/extreme fear reaction to any stimuli (eg thunder, vehicles, vacuum cleaners etc) so that we can ensure your pet feels safe.
If we find we cannot safely manage your dog due to these type of behaviours, we may refuse to accept your dog for boarding in the future.
Health and Wellbeing
Homewood Pet Boarding will take all reasonable care, but cannot be held responsible for injury, death, loss or damage of any kind that may occur to either your animals or their accessories (e.g. leads, toys, bedding).
Where a pet shows signs of ill-health or injury the owner will be contacted and veterinary treatment will be sought. If the owner or the emergency contact cannot be contacted, veterinary care may be sought anyway if it is judged to be in the best interests of the animal. In all cases the owner is liable for any veterinary and other costs incurred. Where possible the pet will be taken to its regular vet, otherwise to Homewood Pet Boarding’s on call Vet.
In the event of serious illness or injury if the owner or emergency contact cannot be contacted the veterinary surgeon’s decision will be final. In the event of death, Homewood will contact the pet owner or nominated person as soon as possible.
Pets sometimes play rough and get small injuries that are not always obvious. We apologise if you notice a small injury to your pet on its return home, but will not be held responsible for any vet care or health or other needs your pet may require as a result.
If your pet has an existing medical condition it is crucial that we know about it in advance. Any medication that is required should be provided in its original container with the vet instructions clearly readable.
At quiet times, Homewood may agree to board an unwell or injured animal who has no contagious illness (as diagnosed by a veterinarian), and take this animal for veterinary treatment as required, when their owner has to be away. This type of boarding is subject to availability and subject to individual quotes.
Pets should be treated for internal & external parasites and worms 1 week before boarding, or have a regular schedule of treatment where they will not fall due during their boarding period. If a pet is observed to have external or internal parasites, they will be isolated and treatment will be given at the owner’s expense.
Entire Pets
Homewood do not automatically separate entire dogs from spayed or neutered dogs.
Female pets who are “in season” will not be accepted. Homewood takes no responsibility for checking whether pets come “in season” during their stay. Any accidental mating is entirely at the owner’s risk.
If an entire bitch comes in season during her stay and this is observed, first the owner or emergency contact will be asked to collect her. If this is not possible she will be placed in isolation and this will incur an extra charge of double the daily boarding fee.
Entire cats of either sex are not allowed to use the communal cat play area.
Vaccinations
NO CURRENT VACCINATIONS = NO BOARDING.
An exception can be made with an up-to-date titre test direct from a veterinarian.
All dogs must be fully vaccinated against Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper Virus and Canine Adenovirus (hepatitis), and Canine Cough. Canine cough in dogs may involve a combination of multiple viruses and or bacteria and vaccination is not 100%.
All cats must be fully vaccinated against Feline Panleukopaenia, Feline Calicivirus and Feline Herpes virus. Owners should understand that Feline herpes virus can chronically infect cats and flare up under stress therefore producing symptoms regardless of the cat’s vaccination status.
Please note, it is still possible to catch some diseases even if up to date with current vaccinations.
Food
You may provide your own food at no extra charge. Food should be in sturdy containers (resealable petfood bags or ziplock bags, Tupperware etc) of a suitable size. We cannot accept large garbage bins etc. Storage costs may apply for improperly packed food.
Raw food can be provided by Homewood at a surcharge of $6.50 per day, or you can provide your own raw food which must be pre-bagged into individual meals, and be able to be frozen. A storage cost for provided raw meals of $2 per day will apply.
You must advise us whether your pet is fed once or twice a day. If a pet has a health need requiring more frequent feeding, this can usually be accommodated at off-peak seasons, and will incur an extra charge.
Compatibility
In the event that your pet’s needs are deemed incompatible with the facilities/staff at Homewood Pet Boarding, you must agree to have your pets collected within 48 hours of being notified and pay any outstanding accounts at the time of collection. Homewood reserves the right to refuse to board any pet that is clearly unwell, or considered to be a danger to staff.
Charges
Charges start on the day of arrival. Day 1 incurs a full day rate regardless of arrival time. Pickup before 10am on the day of departure means this day is not charged. Pickup after 10am incurs a full day’s charge.
Out of hours check ins or outs may sometimes be available but will incur a surcharge of $20.
Full payment is due prior to your pet’s departure.
Current charges are posted in reception and on the website. Homewood reserves the right to charge for additional services and requirements, these surcharges are additional to the daily rates and may include but are not limited to: Isolation, Medical needs, Anti-Social with humans, Out of Hours Check In/Out, special diet/raw diet.
Unused days will be charged during peak periods.
All prices quoted will be at the current rate at time of booking. All prices charged will be at the current rate at the time of boarding.
Abandonment Of Pets
A pet is deemed to be abandoned when it has not been collected by 14 days past its due departure date; its payment boarding is at least 14 days in arrears, and its owner and emergency contact cannot be contacted, or have stated that the animal is abandoned/surrendered, in this period.
In the event of boarding fee arrears or non-collection of pets, the proprietors shall have the right to dispose of the animal(s) but this shall not release the owner from liability for any unpaid fees or charges. If the costs are not paid in full as provided above, legal proceedings will be instituted without further notice. In addition to the outstanding account, costs will be added for the cost of debt recovery.
Booking with Homewood signifies agreement with our terms and conditions.
Manawatu
Seve (Seve)
Seve is a big goof who would like a family who are home most of the time. He could live with a greyhound bitch or other large breed, calm, steady bitch. He's quite strong so suited for a family with older children.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Pascale (Pascale Jewel)
Pascale is incredibly loving, bouncy, and playful. Both also have a shy or slightly anxious side. Both are super social with other greyhounds. Pascale is social with all dogs except very tiny ones, but she has also learned to be leash reactive. She would do best in a home with another calm dog who she can follow. And of course, she needs lots and lots of love.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Rifle (Big Time Rifle)
Rifle is a toy addict! This awesome guy is 5 years old, very affectionate, and calm and gentle - except when he's playing! Rifle shouldn't live with small kids due to his high toy drive, and can only live with dogs who dont care about toys - because ALL toys belong to Rifle! He is great on the leash and super social with other dogs of all sizes. He is not social with cats or poultry (and would really like the ducks at the duckpond for a snack!) He is highly trainable and enjoys dog training class.
Adoption fee: $280.00
Liam (Idol Liam)
Beautiful Liam is a perfect family dog! He can even be trained to live with a confident cat. Could he be the man for you?
Adoption fee: $380.00
Ted (Ted Jewel)
Big bouncy playful Ted wants to be your best friend! He would like another dog to play with, although he is wonderful with dogs of all sizes due to his own size his ideal BFF would be of a medium-large breed. He is a little more energetic than your average greyhound. Ted needs a settled routine, exercise and lots of love and will be the perfect pet.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Oden (Gain Capital)
Oden is 7 years old, super affectionate and friendly, absolutely loves living in my pack with other greyhounds, and super with all other dogs. He is confident out and about and a pleasure to take for a walk. He has poor vision in low light, and is inclined to be snappish if he thinks you are trying to get him off his bed, so a sensible home with no small children. Also no cats! Oden is inclined to separation anxiety, so someone at home or ideally another dog to follow is the best. He is house trained and crate trained.
Adoption fee: $280.00
Kayla (Cool Run)
Kayla is so playful and sweet. She has receovered from an injury so no dog parks for this girl. She would like people who are home most of the time, or perhaps a medium size calm dog for company. She loves her toys, snuggles and humans. Could she be the one for you?

Adoption fee: $280.00
Red (Homebush Red)
Red (Homebush Red) is an absolutely fabulous dog. At 4 years old he is ready for his forever home. A big gentle, snuggle bug Red loves nothing more than sidling up to his people for a pat and cuddle. Red would like a home with people around for a good part of the day or a female canine companion. He would absolutely love to be your best buddy and work colleague if you work from home! Red is great with dogs medium size and up. Red has had a past kennel injury resulting in him having two toes removed. It means that whilst Red loves his walks, he is never going to be a big hiker. Get in touch if this beautiful boy could be the one for you.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Rod (Opawa Rod)
Big boy Rod is hoping for a calm family to be his whole world. He gets quite anxious when he's not sure what to expect so living with a calm, bossy bitch of a larger breed would be ideal for his confidence. He can live with dogs of any size, and loves kids, but due to his size will do best with tweens and up. You will need to be prepared to give him structure and routine to help him settle and in return he will give you his whole heart. He is house trained and crate trained.
Adoption fee: $280.00
Sharkie (Ozzie)
Loving calm Sharkie would like a family who are home most of the time. He could live with a calm bitch of any breed. He is currently in foster learning all about pet life. He has been rehabbed from a leg injury so no dog parks allowed for this lovely boy.
Adoption fee: $280.00
Sammy
Sammy is sweet and shy. He is only partially sighted, although sees well enough to get around. He does not have a degenerative condition and does not require medication. He is uncertain of the big scary world and needs a quiet home, perhaps with a calm older bitch of a medium-large breed. He is scared of zippy dogs. Gentle people with lots of love - Sammy is your man. Once he is confident he is cheeky and playful and will keep you laughing.
Adoption fee: $50.00
Billy (Black Eye Bill)
Billy is 8 years old, and is an experienced pet. He had to leave his family due to an autistic child who started picking on him. He does love kids, and has been used to living with another male greyhound. He would love another greyhound of either sex to hang out with. Billy is food focused and trainable, calm and likes to snooze. He is friendly with small dogs and can run around with mine, but has been known to be leash reactive to snappy little yappers (who can blame him). Billy is house trained and crate trained and needs a couch for Christmas. How about yours?
Adoption fee: $280.00
Gunna (Go Gunna)
Gunna is 8 years old, enjoys food and love, and is an experienced pet. He had to leave his family due to finding small busy toddlers a bit much. He does love kids, including little ones, but as he gets older he would like a quieter home with adults or older children who respect his space and maybe scream less! Gunna still loves going for walks and has lots of love to give. Gunna could live with another calm bitch or as an only dog.
Adoption fee: $280.00
Central Hawkes Bay
Nero (Homebush Caesar)
Nero is a super big bouncy boy️. He is 6 years old and cant wait to be your best buddy. He is confident and happy, and loves to be with his people. He is quite a smoocher, and although a lovebug, he definitely knows his own mind and needs some boundaries. Because he's quite big and strong he will be better with older children. Nero is dog social but may be a bit full on for little dogs.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Cheeky
Cheeky would quite like another dog to play with as she is very playful, but a medium size dog with a calm temperament would be her ideal playmate.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Yogi (Don Morocco)
Our lovely Yogi bear just wants to be your best guy. Yogi is house trained and crate trained. He would do well with a calm, settled bitch to show him the ropes, but he's not a desperately social dog: he prefers the company of humans. He can be anxious in a new place without someone to help him settle, which translates to barky and pacey- he's not at all fearful. He is happy to meet or ignore small dogs out and about, and stock etc, but really enjoys a calm environment, with people to love him. He is absolutely not into the nightclub scene (ie dogparks). He likes kids, but he is quite big and can be pushy so would be better in a home with older kids.
Adoption fee: $280.00
Wynter
Wynter is a 6 year old girl who knows her own mind. She is social with all dogs as long as they know their place and mind their manners! She would be best suited as an only dog or with a gentle male dog. She would prefer to have company at least while she is settling in.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Jordan (Bad Movies)
Jordan has been a pet before but due to some anxiety issues his family found they couldn't keep him. Jordan has some additional needs but he is a wonderful, confident boy with perfect leash manners. He likes kids, loves to play ball, and is confident and friendly out and about with all dogs. Jordan cant live with cats, and needs regular crate time each day. He would enjoy living with a doggie friend. He is house trained and crate trained and needs you to be a loving and firm leader for him in his life.
Adoption fee: $280.00

Wallace (Opawa Wallace)
Wallace (Opawa Wallace) is the epitome of a big gentle Greyhound giant. This absolutely lovely boy is a true gem gentle and kind. He loves a good pat but isn’t a demanding in your face kind of boy. He is currently in foster care with another greyhound, a cat and kids and is a cruisy dude. Wallace is sociable with dogs of all sizes and cat trainable. He is good with children but given his size we would prefer a home with kids 8 plus. Wallace would slot well into most homes. Wallace could live as an only dog or with other dogs and cats. He will be ok home alone whilst his people are at work.
Adoption fee: $380.00
Aslan
Aslan is a very special boy. He is great with other dogs, in fact he tells me he would love a home where he had a companion if he was going to be home alone for any length of time. He has been socialised with children but as he can get a bit bouncy when excited older children would be more suitable. He loves going on adventures and getting out and about. Unfortunately he does have a (non-racing) injury and although he has a full clearance from the fantastic team at Animal Orthopaedics he does have his limitations that will need to be discussed with his family. For this reason he has a reduced adoption fee.
Adoption fee: $180.00
Barclay
Barclay loves to play, is really good with other dogs but can get a little demanding if they have had enough play time and he wants to keep going, he has impeccable manners on lead, and great recall in his safe space. He loves his people. Barclay does know how to push boundaries so thrives on routine. He is super trainable and food motivated! He is 6 years old. Barclay is an experienced pet, and although he likes kids, he needs his own space so no small children.
